This one day course is a 100 level foundation course. It will provide you with a fundamental understanding of the elements of the Passive House Design, which leads to cost effective, low energy buildings with increased occupant comfort and reduced mechanical systems.

• Passive house design fundamentals
• Super insulated envelopes
• Methods for achieving extreme air tightness
• Passive house quality windows
• Leading ventilation design principles
• Passive house economics and costs, including what to consider when conducting an economic comparison

Construction industry professionals, architects, designers, local government, real estate agents, developers, home owners, sustainability enthusiasts and anyone interested in learning the basics of energy efficient building.

Course instructor: Monte Paulsen is one of Canada’s most active Passive House consultants and has extensive experience advising in a variety of projects, including: a First Nations firehall, two multi-story apartment buildings, a modular row-house terrace and several single-family residences being constructed to the international Passive House standard.
